On Sunday, August 16, 2009 Deacon Ian Burgess, a recent graduate of St. Tikhon Seminary, was ordained to the Holy Priesthood by Bishop Benjamin at Holy Trinity Cathedral. Fr. Ian did his undergraduate work in philosophy at st. Charles Borromeo College in Pennsylvania and has an MA in Theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville and a Masters in Canon Law from St. Paul University. He has been assigned to the St. Nicholas of Japan Mission in Redding, California, replacing Fr. Sam Gantt. Fr. Ian and Matushka Mary have three young sons: Aidan, Vincent and Patrick. We welcome the Burgess family into our diocese and look forward to having them with us for many years.
