Monastery of the Holy Assumption in Calistoga Returns to the Diocese

At a recent meeting of the Holy Synod, the Monastery of the Holy Assumption in Calistoga, California was returned to the Diocese of the West. The monastery is the oldest Orthodox women’s monastery in the Americas and had been in the Diocese of the West since its founding until its redesignation as stavropegial in the mid 1980’s.

Susanville Mission Celebrates Patronal Feast

Blessing the Continental Divide

The Rocky Mountain deanery clergy and laity gathered for the annual “blessing of the Divide” atop Monarch Pass. 60 persons made the pilgrimage on a beautiful, sunny, “warm” (for 11,000ft.) Colorado day for the service of Blessing the Waters. Archpriest Joseph Hirsch spoke on the honor and responsibility to ever pray for our country as these waters melt to the east and west upon our lands.
