Memory Eternal – Fr Athanasios (Rome)

Hieromonk Athanasios (Rome), (Formerly Priest Michael Rome, tonsured Great Schema Monk Athanasios days before departing this life), was surrounded by Matushka Rachel and his family at the time of his repose.  He died at St. Anthony Monastery in Florence, AZ, shortly after 10:00 AM Saturday, November 22nd.  Over the years Fr. Michael served at Ss. Peter & Paul in Boulder Creek, CA, as rector at Ss. Cyril & Methodios in Chico, CA, and then as chaplain & confessor to the nuns at the The Life Giving Spring Greek Monastery in Dunlap, CA.   He was a confessor and beloved pastor to countless Orthodox faithful.  He and Matushka  Rachel were known for always extending kind hospitality to all visitors and pilgrims.
