On Monday, May 16, 2022, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, reposed in the Lord. Upon hearing the news, His Eminence Archbishop Benjamin, who is at St. Tikhon’s Monastery this week, asked Cathedral Archpriest Kirill Sokolov to represent him and offer his condolences at a Panikhida (memorial service) offered at Holy Virgin Cathedral (ROCOR) in San Francisco on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. With the blessing of His Eminence, Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America (ROCOR), Archpriest Kirill Sokolov, Archpriest Philip Halliwell (Christ the Savior Church), and Priest Edward Henderson (St. John the Baptist Church) concelebrated at the panikhida, which can be viewed on Youtube.
The Diocese of the West is the geographical district of the Orthodox Church in America consisting of the Western United States.
