Diaconal Ordination on Feast of the Mother of God

On Monday, November 21, 2022, His Eminence Archbishop Benjamin presided at the Divine Liturgy for the Great Feast of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple at St. Seraphim Cathedral in Santa Rosa, CA.

Prior to the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence tonsured Josef Candelario, pastoral intern in Santa Rosa, to the orders of reader and subdeacon. Josef completed course work at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki’s School of Theology in 2020 and the Diaconal Vocations Program of the Orthodox Church in America. During the festal Divine Liturgy, His Eminence ordained Subdeacon Josef to the Holy Diaconate.

Father Deacon Josef and his wife Euphrosini will continue serving at St. Seraphim Cathedral. In the New Year, Deacon Josef is hoping to continue his studies at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in New York.
