Archpastoral Visit to Atwater, CA
On Friday, July 21-Saturday, July 22, 2023, His Eminence, Archbishop Benjamin made an archpastoral visit to St. Mary Magdalene Mission in Atwater, CA. Archpriest Lawrence Gaudreau, Rector, welcomed His Eminence and served the Vespers. At the litiya, Archpriest Kirill Sokolov (Chancellor) and Priest Peter Runyon (St. Susanna Mission, Sonora) also concelebrated with HIs Eminence. The faithful prepared an excellent potluck afterwards. On Saturday, His Eminence celebrated the Divine Liturgy assisted by Mitred Archpriest Ian MacKinnon (former Chancellor); Archpriest Kirill Sokolov; Archpriest Lawrence Gaudreau; Priest Peter Runyon; and Deacon David Greenfield (Ss. Cyril and Methodius Mission, Chico). Fr. Kirill gave the homily. At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence thanked Fr. Lawrence for his dedicated service to the Mission and awarded gramotas (citations) to a number of parishioners for their faithful service. A catered BBQ lunch was a welcome opportunity for continued fellowship after which His Eminence sat wish parishioners and answered questions.
