2025 Diaconal and Music Practicums to be Held Concurrently in Santa Rosa, CA
The Diocese of the West is pleased to announce that the 2025 Diaconal Liturgical Practicum and the 2025 Music Practicum will be held concurrently from July 28-August 1, 2025, at St. Seraphim Cathedral in Santa Rosa, California.
These two distinct yet complementary events offer valuable formation opportunities for those engaged in liturgical service and church music ministry. By holding them simultaneously, participants will benefit from shared worship, fellowship, and a deepened understanding of the liturgical life of the Church.
Diaconal Liturgical Practicum
Now in its 18th year, the Diaconal Practicum is designed for men discerning or preparing for ordination to the Holy Diaconate, as well as subdeacons and readers seeking to strengthen their liturgical proficiency. The program provides practical, hands-on training in the order and theology of Orthodox liturgical services, as well as instruction in rubrics, chanting, and pastoral conduct. Music Practicum
The Music Practicum is open to current choir directors and aspiring music leaders who are looking to improve their skills and understanding of Orthodox liturgical music. The program features workshops in conducting, vocal technique, liturgical planning, and musical repertoire, all within the context of daily services at the cathedral.
