San Francisco, CA — His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, has blessed the Diocese of the West to prepare for the Consecration of the Right Reverend Archimandrite Vasily as the next Bishop of San Francisco and the West on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in San Francisco, CA.
On Friday, August 15, the Rite of Election and Vespers will be held at 6:00 pm at San Francisco’s historic Holy Trinity Cathedral. Limited parking will be available at St. Brigid’s Friday evening.
The greeting of the Metropolitan of All America and Canada, the Rite of Profession of Faith, the Divine Liturgy, and the ordination to the episcopacy will begin at 9:00 am. Parking will not be available at St. Brigid’s.
A ticketed, sold-out luncheon banquet in honor of the newly installed Bishop of San Francisco and the West will follow at McCormick & Kuleto’s Seafood & Steaks in San Francisco’s landmark Ghirardelli Square at 12:45 pm (note the slightly adjusted time).
Reservations are required for the banquet and registration is now closed.
Vespers will be served after the banquet at 4:00 pm. The new bishop will serve his first hierarchical divine liturgy on Sunday, August 17 at 9:30 am. Parking will be available at St. Brigid’s for these two services.
The Diocese of the West is the geographical district of the Orthodox Church in America consisting of the Western United States. The diocese has active parishes in Montana, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii. San Francisco is home to the diocese’s cathedral, Holy Trinity, as well as the Chancery offices. The diocese is led by His Grace Vasily, Bishop of San Francisco and the West.
