Protopresbyter Thomas Hopko, world-renowned theologian and former Dean of St. Vladimir’s Seminary, reposed in the Lord on March 18, 2015. Funeral arrangements have been announced:
All services and visitations will be at The Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, PA.
Father’s body will be ushered into the monastery church at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning, March 20, 2015. There will be a Pre-Sanctified Liturgy at 11:00 a.m. Visitations will continue throughout the day on Friday, with Matins for the Departed at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Panikhida at 7:30 p.m. Visitations close at 9:00 p.m. that evening.
On Saturday the Memorial Liturgy will be served at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Panikhida. Visitations will continue throughout the day. Vigil on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. and visitations close at 9:00 p.m. that evening.
On Sunday the Liturgy will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by visitations throughout the afternoon. Vespers will be at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Panikhida at 6:00 p.m. and visitations continuing until 9:00 p.m.
On Monday, March 23, 2015 the Funeral Service for a Priest will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in the monastery cemetery and a memorial meal.
